Frosty was born in 1979. (Yes, we said 1979.) She is OLD - VERY OLD. Yoda thinks she is older than dirt. She was adopted when she was about 8 weeks old. All her life, she has hated getting wet; she hates being cold; she hates getting dirty. She thinks that unpaved garden areas are totally uncivilized and therefore unworthy of her delicate pink toes.
One day when Frosty was younger she was playing with Quisty (one of the previous kitties of the Three Kitty Kompany). Frosty was hiding at the edge of a small frog pond and Quisty ran towards her. She jumped up and over a few feet, landing in the middle of the 3 foot deep pond. She began swimming when her first feet hit the water. Although her entire body was soaked, her head never got wet. Evidently she can swim!!
Frosty never learned how to hunt, although in her younger years she knew that squirrels, chipmunks and other rodents were to be hunted. One day she was hiding at the base of the wooden railing on the deck. A flying squirrel climbed onto the railing looking for food. Frosty was getting ready to spring onto the squirrel when the squirrel jumped off the railing, extended the skin flaps behind its front legs and sailed into the woods. Frosty looked very surprised as if to say, "I didn't know they could do THAT."
Even with her advanced years, Frosty still occasionally gets an energy surge. She will make a churring noise and (as well as a 20+ year old, arthritic cat can) she runs through the house, finds a toy and attacks it. Within a few seconds, she regains her sanity and walks calmly to her basket (beside the heater) for a nap.
Frosty has been a good friend for many years. We value our remaining time with her. She has become a rare and beautiful flower in our lives.
