I really miss Mom and Dad when they go away but they come home with good stories. In October of 1999 they went to Tanzania. Mom goes to see the animals. Dad goes to photograph them. I don't understand photographs. What good are they if you can't smell them and they don't play? I much prefer my toys.
Anyway, Mom and Dad flew to Arusha, Tanzania via Amsterdam, Netherlands. It took them 2 days to get there and 2 days to get home. Their photographic safari was 13 days long. Most of the time they were staying in tents. They weren't "roughing it", however. There was a camp staff to get their drinks, arrange their showers, make their food and do their laundry. The camp was a lot like those of the early 20th century big game hunters. (For me, hunting big game if finding a large moth or a spider. I don't hunt - too much like work. I prefer my meals be served in my bowls, on time and at room temperature.) After 2 or 3 days in camp, Mom and Dad would move to a resort for a night. That was when the camp staff moved the camp to a new location at a new National Park. The outfitter for the safari was Abercrombie and Kent who must be doing a good job. Mom and Dad have been to Africa three times. Check out Dad's pictures below. If you click on any picture, you can see an enlarged view.

When Mom and Dad aren't going to Africa,
they often go "scuba diving". I know that involves getting wet - definitely not
a kitty-friendly activity. But they seem to enjoy it and if it makes them happy
I guess it must be ok. Mom says that diving is the closest that she has found
to the serenity that she finds when she and Dad are on safari in Africa. She
says diving is like taking a safari underwater. Mom and Dad learned to dive
when Frosty was young. They went to Bonaire, Netherlands Antilles, for a
vacation, met the divemaster and decided to take scuba diving lessons while
they were on vacation. Their class was just the two of them and the divemaster.
Every day after school the divemaster would take them under the water and show
them the animals that live there. Mom even got to hold a seahorse.
After a few years of diving, Dad started taking photos of the scenery and the animals under the water. Since they only dive in relatively clear, warm water, the colors in the photos are wonderful but when Dad is photographing something far away, everything looks blue. Mom and Dad tell me that that is because there isn't enough light under the water for all the colors to come out. Some of Dad's underwater photos are below. Again, if you click on any picture, you can see an enlarged view.

Mom and Dad have been other places, too.
Sometimes they go somewhere nearby and sometimes they go far away. Wherever
they go, Dad takes his camera. Below are some of Mom and Dad's other photos.
